The goal for this group is to provide a safe space where African women can evaluate the roles we play in our family systems and how that’s influenced the ways we show up in other relationships. Evaluate the ways in which we have been raised and groomed to become codependent givers, confront the realities of sexism within our families, and evaluate beliefs we have internalized about womanhood.
I have collaborated with MAS and Amaly to provide this healing circle for the Sudanese community to honor, process, grieve, and cope with the events that have transpired in the last month or so, through vocal processing, sharing, and listening to each other and the stories we share through any medium that feels comfortable (ex. story, collective dua, poetry, art, etc.).
